Searching for interesting shots, and trying to learn something along the way

I am an amateur photographer based in New York City, trying to find the optimal balance between my voice, the technical, and the artistic aspects of photography.

I shoot digital, 135 film, and 120 film, and attempt to get away with as little post-processing as I can. I focus mainly on landscape, cityscape & architectural, and am trying to improve my street and travel photography.

Growing with Canon

I have been a big fan Canon’s since first exploring photography with an ‘Autoboy II’ as a teen. Over the subsequent years, I dove deeper into the Canon system, and currently shoot with an R50 for street photography and small form travel, the 5DSR for landscape and architecture, and a workhorse Canon 620 SLR for experiments in 35mm film.

Back to Pentax Basics

Like many, my introduction to ‘real photography’ and learning the exposure triangle, was with a Pentax K1000. This bread and butter Pentax system is experiencing a revival, and still performs admirably, for those looking for simplicity, maybe a much needed technical refresher, and the nostalgia of shooting completely manually on a roll of 135.

Taming the ‘Hassies’

The moon. Famous people. Products. Fashion. Even the long history with Eastman Kodak after a meeting between Arvid Hasselblad and George Eastman. I, like 99.9% of photographers, covet…a Hasselblad. I’m fortunate enough to have a 500C/M and EL/M for 120 film, and was made an offer I couldn’t refuse for an X1D 50C.
